We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel with a strong background in the financial services industry to manage tax and compliance matters. This role will focus on legal processes related to establishing new companies, financial compliance, and employment systems, specifically for the Singapore market. The ideal candidate will have comprehensive experience in managing legal and regulatory aspects of corporate governance, tax regulations, and compliance in financial services.
- Tax and Compliance Management:
- Oversee and ensure the company’s compliance with Singapore's tax laws and financial regulations.
- Advise on corporate tax strategies and ensure proper implementation and documentation.
- Provide guidance on cross-border tax issues and international compliance matters.
- Corporate Legal Processes:
- Manage the legal processes involved in setting up new companies, including governance, registration, and business licensing.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documentation related to corporate matters.
- Financial Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with Singapore's financial regulations, particularly within the financial services sector.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement financial compliance policies and procedures.
- Conduct internal audits and reviews to ensure adherence to financial standards and regulatory requirements.
- HR and Employment Law:
- Advise on employment systems, including recruitment, onboarding, and termination processes, ensuring compliance with Singapore employment laws.
- Support HR teams in managing employee contracts, benefits, and workplace policies.
- Address and resolve legal issues related to employee relations and labor disputes.
- Risk Management and Governance:
- Identify potential legal risks related to corporate operations, tax matters, and employment practices, and provide mitigation strategies.
- Support the development of risk management strategies in line with legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Ensure that legal advice aligns with the company’s business objectives and risk appetite.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, including finance, HR, and management, to ensure all business operations comply with legal standards.
- Liaise with external regulatory authorities, auditors, and legal professionals as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, preferably within the financial services industry.
- Strong knowledge of Singapore corporate tax laws, financial regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Experience in managing legal processes for company setup, financial compliance, and HR systems.
- Excellent understanding of Singapore's labor laws and employment practices.
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
