The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), which is part of the College of Engineering, aspires to be a leading school for Sustainable Urban Systems. Currently, it has over 50 faculty members and more than 1,500 students, and is rapidly expanding its range of educational and research activities. Its faculty has led major university-wide strategic research thrusts in space creation, water research, sustainable built environment, and maritime energy and sustainable development. Going forward, CEE is addressing critical problems in urban systems such as building structures and energy systems, sustainability of urban cities, and resiliency to natural and unnatural risks as well as emerging challenges in maritime and shipping.
CEE plays an integral role in spearheading tertiary education, advancing research innovations and providing professional services in a number of key disciplines in the local and global maritime industry. CEE holds a number of outstanding faculty and research staff in maritime studies who are reputable researchers in green shipping management and optimization, big data in shipping and port, sustainable shipping management, maritime strategy and supply chain management. CEE is also hosting the Maritime Energy & Sustainable Development Centre of Excellence (MESD CoE), which is the first maritime research centre supported by Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI) with the mission to deepen Singapore’s maritime R&D capability and Singapore’s position as a global maritime knowledge and innovation hub.
To fuel further development, we invite applications for a tenured (Endowed Professor) faculty position in the following areas of Maritime Management.
We are seeking a candidate with an established international reputation in the research and education of the field of Maritime and Supply Chain Management. The candidate should demonstrate a strong inclination towards the domain of Maritime Management and Shipping and is expected to be an authority in at least one area within the domain. Those specialising in the areas of supply chain resilience, decarbonisation, and digitalisation are preferred. The candidate is also expected to work independently and jointly with other faculty members to attract funding in the relevant areas of research. This includes academic or societal impacts such as publication and citation metrics, track record of service to public, industry and academic communities, awards of research grants, impact on industry or international standing (e.g., delivery of keynote addresses in prestigious conferences).
Requirements
Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
• A relevant PhD from a reputable university
• Extensive research and teaching experience in Maritime and Supply Chain Management
• Successful track record of academic/research leadership and team building
• Experience in cross-disciplinary research initiatives and collaboration
• Well-developed understanding of the priorities, operation and strategies of relevant funding bodies
• Strong network and ties with renowned international entities and organisations
• Internationally acclaimed with presentations such as plenary and/or keynote addresses at flagship conferences and prestigious journal publications
