Group Commercial & Agency Management, Assistant Manager

We are looking for a self-driven and experienced Group Commercial & Agency Management, Assistant Manager for one of our shipping clients. This role involves driving sales targets, managing commercial operations, and maintaining strong client relationships in alignment with organizational goals for both Carrier Owned Container (COC) and Shipper Owned Container (SOC) services. The incumbent should have at least 5 years of relevant experience.


Key Responsibilities:

Reports:

• Prepare and deliver monthly reports for COC/SOC services, analyzing market trends, and providing updates to the Reporting Manager.

Daily Operations Management:

• Work closely with Customer Service and other internal stakeholders such as local operations, transshipment, documentation teams, and headquarters (Trades & Group Commercial and Agency Management - Agency Network Management).

Sales and Growth:

• Achieve sales targets and grow sales accounts throughout our networks.

• Assist in formulating marketing and pricing strategies, negotiating freight rates, maximizing vessel utilization, and managing cargo volumes.

• Stay up-to-date on industry trends and provide effective commercial recommendations based on market intelligence.

Client Relationship Management:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, being a proactive and persuasive communicator.

• Identify potential new clients through networking, attending industry events, and leveraging referrals.

• Develop opportunities with current and new clients through strategic outreach and proposals.

Opportunity Development:

• Instead of cold-calling, identify potential clients and develop engagement strategies to grow business opportunities.

Ad-hoc Duties:

• Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Leadership Responsibilities:

• Regularly update the team on progress toward sales targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).

• Make informed and timely decisions to address issues and capitalize on business opportunities.


Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Economics, Business, Accounting, or related disciplines.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Sales, Key Account or related roles, specifically within the container shipping industry.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
