The Global Compliance Management Services - Centre of Excellence (CoE) is seeking to fill a full-time role of senior tax PMO. The candidate should have tax background and experience on the asset management industry. Candidates for this position will be capable of understanding technology at an intermediate level and leading internal projects (Medium to large) from conception through to the successful delivery of the project. The role will work within the Global Tax Compliance and Transformation team at the direction of the GCMS CoE or their delegate based in Singapore. The role is designed to afford the right candidate with the opportunity to learn many facets of the Tax business and engage internally and externally with clients. The breath of the role will also require someone with the ability to easily adapt to the ever-changing tax environment and to be flexible in the work required by the role. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is ready for a challenge in a fast-moving role, working together with multiple teams.
KPMG’s Global Tax Compliance and Transformation team is specifically designed to help clients achieve cost-efficiencies and gain better process control and visibility. The team has been established to support the growth of KPMG’s tax compliance service offerings. The aim of the team is to drive the implementation of internal and external initiatives within the Global Tax Compliance and Tax Transformation arena and ensure high quality on-going services are provided to several our clients. As part of the transformation team, this role will support 5 main strategic goals:
- The first goal will be to support the building / development of the internal operational processes. These internal projects will be critical to developing the foundation and the integrity of the services which can be delivered.
- The second goal is to lead and implement the transition initiatives for new clients in various countries and regions. Intention is to ensure a consistent delivery model, which includes the preparation of standardized data packs, process maps, RACI, Local transition packs and all the activities necessary to conduct transition in an efficient manner. The candidate will be able to leverage the KPMG transition toolkit and methodology implemented by KPMG for these purposes.
- To support with the PMO function by leading the coordination activity of compliance obligations of existing clients, supported by enabling technology and respective delivery centers.
- Fourth, the role will be to serve as a liaison with other parts of Global Tax Compliance and Tax Transformation, most notably the technology team responsible for technology landscape
- Finally, the role will be required to support business development activities to support the broader transformation team agenda and growth of Global Tax Compliance client base and targeting and Go-To-Market strategy.
As a senior manager/manager consultant level, the ability to effectively deliver the above services in a timely manner, of high quality, whilst keeping the broader team informed will be critical to your success. Strong communication both written and verbal are mandatory to the role. You will need to work collaboratively with other parts of the business and support the team as required in completing their tasks. To be successful you will need to have a ‘proactive’ approach to completing your work and supervising your peers’ work.
As such we are looking for professionals with previous experience (+7 years). Accounting and tax background in a plus. These professionals will have some specific goals around this competence, namely:
- Demonstrable project management or operational management experience
- The ability to engage across many levels of the client organisation and the ability to confidently interface across KPMG Global Tax Compliance network
- The ability to understand and pursue tax opportunities, tax offerings, how they are implemented and the technology that underpins them
- The ability to lead and support as requested internal projects to uplift Global Tax Compliance and tax transformation capability and most importantly, the ability to train other members of the team and share best practices based on experience
- The ability to support business development activities and lead other market facing activities that contribute to the winning of new engagements that support our clients to deliver their transformational objectives (i.e. Competitor intelligence initiatives, develop Go-to market initiatives, etc.)
- The ability to demonstrate logical processing of understanding an issue or project and developing a plan and overseeing its implementation to achieve the expected outcomes.
- The ability to set milestones, track, and report on status of compliance obligations to efficiently coordinate existing global tax compliance projects to support with the PMO function, as needed.
- In addition, as part of KPMG, you will need to complete annual requirements such as goal setting, timely completion of training and other KPMG specific activities.
Skills/ Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree, Minimum 7 years work experience, with demonstrable project management experience on managing client portfolio and technical acumen.
- Preference for previous experience in similar roles. Needs to be able to operate in environments where there is uncertainty. Needs to quickly identify how work should be delivered and plan for its delivery with any known constraints such as pricing, skills available and timeframes and maximize the delivery center solution offering. Needs to be able to be articulate with clients, including in written form particularly when communicating on a project, its construct, and its status. Should be a self-starter and able to act with minimal guidance and be able to lead stakeholders through medium projects or process solutions.
- Should have skills to be able to manage all aspects of a medium-large project. The ability to appropriately structure a project for delivery is critical. Ability to identify risks and issues and drive resolution is important. Should possess skills to be able to understand the accounting/tax issues, implementation of technology solutions and other day to day issues. Tax acumen would be favorably considered.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills are a must. This person must be a team player and highly organized, as they will work internally and externally across many dimensions of the business. Important to have good listening skills to understand other points of view, and to be able to articulate these to other parties.
- Precision, reliability and positive attitude is a must.
