Job Responsibilities
The Ambulance Paramedic responds to emergency calls to provide advanced medical care and treatment to patients at the scene of an incident and during transportation to hospitals or other medical facilities. They are trained to assess, stabilize, and treat patients with medical conditions and injuries, ensuring the patient’s well-being while coordinating with other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency calls, including accidents, medical emergencies, and disasters.
- Patient Assessment: Assess the condition of patients by evaluating vital signs, performing physical exams, and identifying the appropriate course of action.
- Medical Intervention: Provide advanced life support (ALS) such as administering medications, performing intubation, defibrillation, managing airways, and providing intravenous therapy.
- Stabilization and Monitoring: Stabilize patients’ condition by providing necessary medical interventions and monitor their condition during transportation.
Job Requirements:
Have received certifications from one of the following:
Emergency Medical Services (“EMS”) Specialist Certification from the SAF Medical Training Institute or Civil Defence Academy;
• Higher National Institute of Technical Education Certificate (“NITEC”) in Paramedic and Emergency Care;
• Justice Institute of British Columbia (“JIBC”) Paramedic Academy’s ‘Primary Care Paramedic’;
• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Paramedicine issued by a local institution recognised by the Director;
• Paramedic Transitional Scheme Certificate issued by Unit for Pre-hospital Emergency Care and the Ministry of Health, Singapore (“UPEC-MOH”);
• Paramedic Recertification Programme: Joint ITE-UPEC Certificate in Prehospital Emergency Care course by the Institute of Technical Education (“ITE”); or
• Any other Paramedic qualification recognised by the Director from time to time
