Get to Know the Role
We are seeking an Automation Engineer who is capable of managing factory automation technologies. Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting systems, designing and testing automated equipment, and leading efficiency improvements using Lean Manufacturing principles. You will also need to maintain machine uptime, oversee new machine setups, and integrate equipment across plants, so we are seeking someone who has a keen eye for detail. You should also have strong project management skills, to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery, as well and stay abreast of advancements in the industrial automation field to drive continuous productivity improvements.
Essential Responsibilities
- Understand factory automation technology and equipment such as robots, automated guided-vehicles and computerized manufacturing system, AMHS etc.
- Repair, troubleshoot advanced AMHS hardware, software and interface problems, maintaining the system to ensure full functionality and reliability
- Design, modify, implement and test automated machines, programs, jig and fixture to required job specification in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Lead in-house automation projects on layout, build, troubleshoot, repair and modify developmental and production equipment.
- Drive efficiency improvement using Lean Manufacturing approach to identify waste, improve/streamline process flow and automation improvements with team and/or with cross-functional team collaboration
- Lead and maintain overall machine uptime, monitor machine utilization and OEE index by identifying and eliminating the causes for recurring issues with CAPA implementation
- Setting up new machines, transferring of equipment at different plants and integration to existing system. Supervise installation crews and support the field installation work.
- Project management on cost, quality, scope and schedule to ensure on timely delivery of the project and within budget
- Participate in design and documentation reviews, update management on work progress and deviations
- Keep abreast of latest developments in industrial automation technology and introduce them to plant wide operations achieve cost savings and productivity improvements
- Any ad hoc duties assigned by supervisor/manager
Skills and Competencies Profile
- Degree or Masters in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Automation, Industrial, Computer etc)
- At least 2 years relevant work experiences in a similar capacity and semi-con industry
- Hands-on experiences in working with cleanroom automated equipment, knowledgeable about cleanroom work environment and SEMI standards requirements
- Proficiency with CAD software: such as AutoCAD is essential, and others such as SolidWorks is good to have
- Knowledgeable of semi-con industry standard on equipment design, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures.
- Able to read and interpret technical drawings, equipment manuals etc
- Creative thinker, proactive and able to demonstrate excellent project management and problem-solving skills
- Independent, self-starter with good written, communication and analytical skills
- Candidates with automation design, PLC experience, understanding of computer programming and software development are highly desirable
- Excellent experiences in handling and managing machine preventive/predictive maintenances and critical spare part controls, in order to minimize unplanned downtime
