Materials Director


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading Materials and Logistics Department comprising of Planning, Procurement, Inventory, System & Process and Logistics & Warehousing teams to work towards attaining plant and corporate stipulated target.
  • Drive breakthrough improvements in the Materials and Logistics functions.
  • Contribute to and actively participate in management meetings and in defining the strategic directions of the plant.
  • Formulate & drive commodity procurement tactical strategy to meet manufacturing needs and business objectives.
  • Provide leadership to Materials Department as well as mentor the supply chain planners to be efficient and cost effectiveness in planning, procuring and securing the best price, delivery, services, terms and conditions for the purchased commodity.
  • Drive improvement programs together with Regional Supply Chain team on cost, quality & supply continuity.
  • Strategically decide how to optimize resources, crafting the right organization structure – when to be customer specific & when to be commodity specific
  • Drive inventory control to meet the expectations of the Company and minimize the risk of financial exposure due to obsolescence and excess inventory.
  • Keen to understand the business environment, with logical and innovative mind set, to assist the business by re-inventing the supply chain to have a competitive edge over others.
  • Drive lean improvement plans through lean concepts, process improvements and automation.
  • Required to work with cross-functional groups within Operations, Program and Supply Chain.
  • Be a change agent to the organization to transform the organization to face the challenges in the competitive landscape. Expected to manage change management within organization, both from business processes, as well as people mindset.


Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering, Business, Purchasing or Supply Chain
  • At least 10 years relevant experience in an electronics components manufacturing environment with 5 years in management leadership positions
  • Experience in managing a team in a high-mix-low-volume projects procurement environment preferred
  • Must possess strong leadership skill to lead a team, as well as able to present idea and influence critical business decision.
  • Excellent communication skills with good negotiation skills to secure best delivery, price terms & conditions
  • Be resourceful and able to lead a team to gather data and translate that into useful information that helps decision making.
