Job Responsibilities:
- Plan, control, and execute all activities connected with maintenance, repairs, survey and certificate requirements, dry-docking, conversion or modification of assigned ships, including preparation of docking specifications, cost compilation and the final reports.
- Update, implement and monitor the Fleet Management system including Planned Maintenance Programs (PMS-Eng).
- Carry out ship inspections, which will include a minimum of one port or sailing visit on board with the associated reports.
- Formulate a dynamic work plan and action list with the Chief Engineer.
- Ensure that the ship is maintained according to the Company's policy and receive regular reports for its progress.
- Help select a suitable Chief Engineer, Engineer Officers and ratings for ships under his care.
- Verify the work and performance of the Chief Engineer, Engineer officers and rating.
- Attend to oil majors’ vetting requirements of the Company and the fleet.
- Monitor fuel oil and lube oil testing results and take necessary corrective action promptly.
- Ensure the timely supply and maintain a sufficient stock of engine room stores, spares, and other maintenance items on board at all times.
- Ensure calibration validity of MMC, gas detection equipment and alcohol meters.
- Ensure annual servicing of portable and fixed LSA & FFA such as fire extinguishers, L/rafts, SCBA sets, EEBD sets, L/boat and Rescue boat davit annual test, EPIRB and VDR annual performance test, L/boat air bottle, BA compressor air quality test, etc.
- Help maintain the Company’s TMSA.
- Keep abreast, update and implement new rules, regulations and legislation applicable to the Company and Fleet.
- Help plan, coordinate and attend to the new-build, delivery and sale of the ship, as and when required.
- Participate in maritime organizations, committees and working groups as and when required.
- Draw up, implement and monitor the budget and cost control for the fleet, including docking and modifications.
- Carry out other ad hoc duties assigned by the Management.
Job Requirements (Harbour Fleet):
- Possess Certificate of Competency (Engine) Class 1, Chief Engineer.
- Degree or Diploma in Marine or Mechanical Engineering.
- Have sailed as Chief Engineer on a Ro-Ro vessel with a crane.
- Minimum two years’ experience as Technical Superintendent looking after Ro-Ro with a crane.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Able and willing to travel overseas to visit or sail with company vessels or other assigned vessels as and when required.
