Job Purpose
Cognizant is seeking an experienced Siemens PLC Engineer to support a range of upcoming automation projects. This role focuses on designing, coding, and testing Siemens PLC systems using the TIA portal, with an emphasis on pharmaceutical industry applications. The ideal candidate should bring expertise in Building Management Systems (BMS) or Process Control Systems (PCS), with experience in pharmaceutical environments being highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
PLC System Design & Development
- Design,Code, and Test Siemens PLC Systems: Utilize the TIA portal to design, program, and test Siemens PLC systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and pharmaceutical regulatory requirements.
- Hardware Design: Engineer and design hardware components for PLC systems, ensuring they meet project-specific needs and operational reliability standards.
- System Integration & Interface: Ensure seamless integration of PLC systems with other automation platforms, such as SCADA, HMI, and various control systems.
Pharmaceutical Industry Expertise
- Regulatory Compliance: Apply deep understanding of pharmaceutical industry regulations to ensure all PLC solutions adhere to cGMP and other regulatory standards, enhancing operational compliance and efficiency.
Building & Process Control Systems
- Desigo CC System: Work with Desigo CC to implement and manage building automation systems.
- BMS/PCS Expertise: Leverage expertise in Building Management Systems (BMS) and/or Process Control Systems (PCS) to execute various project tasks, ensuring proper integration with other operational systems.
Project Management & Execution
- Project Oversight: Lead and manage PLC projects from planning through execution, ensuring timely delivery within budget and meeting quality standards.
- On-Site Support: Provide on-site support for system installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting, quickly addressing technical issues to ensure smooth operation.
Requirements
- Experience: 4-6 years of hands-on Siemens PLC engineering experience, specifically within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency with the TIA portal for designing, coding, and testing PLC systems. Experience with Desigo CC and BMS/PCS is highly preferred.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong troubleshooting abilities to provide effective on-site support during installation, commissioning, and system operation.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, project teams, and stakeholders.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage PLC projects, ensuring successful delivery on time and within budget.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in Siemens PLC systems, BMS, or PCS.
- Pharmaceutical Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, cGMP, and best practices in the pharmaceutical sector.
