Our client is an international professional services provider with a wide network spanning across various parts of the world. Due to continuous business expansion within their GST team, they are now seeking to hire a driven and tenacious individual and be part of their team.
Responsibilities:
GST Compliance & Reporting:
- Manage and oversee the GST compliance process for a portfolio of clients, ensuring timely and accurate filing of GST returns.
- Monitor clients' GST positions, ensuring they comply with local laws and regulations, including accurate reporting and payment.
- Review GST reconciliation and liaise with tax authorities regarding assessments, audits, and queries.
GST Advisory & Planning:
- Provide expert advice on GST-related matters, including tax structuring, transaction reviews, and managing indirect tax risks.
- Work with clients to identify opportunities for GST savings and assist in developing tax-efficient structures.
- Advise on GST implications of business transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring.
- Support clients in GST audits, including preparing audit defense files and providing guidance during audit queries from authorities.
Tax Risk Management:
- Identify GST risk areas and implement strategies to minimize exposure for clients.
- Provide guidance on compliance with anti-avoidance provisions, place of supply rules, reverse charge mechanisms, and input tax credit claims.
- Advise clients on the impact of regulatory changes and industry-specific GST issues.
Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for GST-related queries and issues, building and maintaining strong relationships with clients.
- Deliver high-quality tax solutions and client services while maintaining compliance with the firm’s standards.
- Conduct client training sessions on GST updates and compliance best practices.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with audit, tax, and advisory teams to ensure clients receive holistic advice that aligns with their overall business objectives.
- Support the finance and accounting teams in ensuring the accurate reflection of GST in financial statements and systems.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and train junior members of the tax team in GST compliance and advisory services.
- Manage project timelines and ensure the timely delivery of GST advisory services across multiple engagements.
- Assist in the development of internal GST knowledge and best practices within the team.
Research & Analysis:
- Stay updated on changes to GST laws, regulations, and administrative procedures.
- Analyze recent tax rulings, changes in legislation, and market trends to ensure clients are advised of new opportunities or risks.
- Provide technical analysis and support for complex GST queries, ruling applications, and other indirect tax issues.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
- A relevant professional qualification (e.g., CPA, CA, or equivalent) is preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in GST, preferably in a Big 4, audit firm or tax consultancy, and 2-5 years of GST experience for Senior Associate position.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in GST advisory and compliance, preferably within an audit firm or a tax consultancy firm for Managers and above.
- In-depth knowledge of GST laws, regulations, and tax administration, with experience handling complex tax issues.
- Proven experience managing GST audits, investigations, and liaising with tax authorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple projects.
- Excellent communication and client management skills, with the ability to deliver clear and practical advice.
- Experience with tax and financial reporting software is advantageous.
