Job Scope
- Record Management: Ensure the accurate and secure handling of patient records, including the creation, storage, retrieval, and destruction of records in compliance with legal and organizational standards.
- Data Entry and Maintenance: Input patient information into electronic health record (EHR) systems and maintain the integrity of data by updating records as necessary.
- Confidentiality and Compliance: Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) to protect sensitive information.
- Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare providers, administrative staff, and other departments to facilitate the flow of information and ensure proper documentation.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct audits and quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of medical records, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Training and Support: Provide training to new staff on record-keeping protocols and assist them in using the EHR system effectively.
- Reporting: Generate reports on medical records for management and regulatory purposes, analyzing data as needed.
- Patient Interaction: Occasionally assist patients in accessing their medical records, ensuring they understand the process and their rights.
Requirements
- Min Diploma in any discipline
- Must have prior experience as a medical records officer
