MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(A) SPECIFIC (90%)
- Assist the pharmacist in the processing of medication orders for inpatient and outpatient dispensing which includes typing, packing, labeling and distribution of drug supplies to the wards and other hospital departments.
- Perform billing functions and ensures that cost and revenue of all stocks supplied are recovered.
- Assist the pharmacist in the processing of medication orders for sterile and extemporaneous preparations according to USP guidelines.
- Compounding of antibiotic infusers, eye drops, syringe preparations and topical creams according to the prescriptions and orders.
- Ensure maintenance, sanitation and organization of clean room and related equipment according to policies and procedures.
- Dispenses medicines under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Monitor and maintain inventory stock level of drugs in the areas of work.
- Receive, unpack and check deliveries against the appropriate documents, to ensure that items supplied are correct and accounted for.
- Perform stock receipts and issues in FIFO order.
- Assist in providing quality customer service.
- Maintains the cleanliness of the work areas and prepare these for daily operations.
- Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
- *Staff may be assigned to Unit Dose Packaging where they will instead have greater focus on the following duties:
- (UDP) Perform medication repackaging and quality checks as part of pharmacy automation system in accordance with repackaging procedures.
- (UDP) Assist the Unit Dose Packaging Pharmacy In Charge in ensuring the smooth running of UDP operations, including manpower allocation, production job planning, handling enquiries from wards and perform simple troubleshooting of the automation machines.
(B) GENERAL (10%)
- Assist in orientating and training new staff assigned to the section.
- Assist pharmacist in managing the operations in the assigned section.
- Supports the hospital by participating actively in the various activities organized by the hospital. Activities include QC, community projects, staff welfare and recreational activities and etc.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
(A) EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Certificate in Pharmacy Technician Course (Pharmaceutical Society of Singapore) or Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent (clinical track highly preferred).
- Candidates with experience in an acute hospital setting may be considered for a senior role.
