We are seeking a Short-Term Planning Editor to join our News Desk team in Asia. You will be responsible for identifying our daily newsroom priorities, organizing coverage of the most important events and news across the region, working with stakeholders to shape coverage, sharpen headlines and ensure our 24-48 hour operations run smoothly. You'll also work closely with the long-term planning editor, as well as teams and bureaus across APAC.
You're someone who pays close attention to detail, who loves to organize and elevate news coverage. You're a cross-platform thinker with a deep internal Bloomberg network who feels comfortable working with BN / TV / Digital stakeholders. You're excited by breaking news, and are ready to jump in to help coordinate coverage of events as they unfurl.
We'll trust you to:
- Manage the News Desk Trello and compile our daily news list, in tandem with the Long-Term planning editor
- Run the News Desk's daily team call, as well as the Week Ahead planning call
- Work seamlessly with editorial leads from teams and bureaus around the world when news breaks, delivering insightful and thoughtful feedback
- Spot coverage gaps and opportunities across platforms, sharpening headlines and content
- Advocate for and spotlight our best work to other regions
You'll need to have:
- At least 5 years of business journalism experience
- Experience covering financial markets as a reporter and editor
- Experience using Trello to run the editorial calendar and events
- Experience with cross-platform planning
- Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English
- Bachelor’s degree or degree-equivalent qualifications
