ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Chartering Manager is accountable for managing and leading a team to achieve the chartering business's objectives. The ideal candidate will include managing resources and risks, as well as negotiating with multiple parties concerning bunkers, port and time charter activities. This position necessitates strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to conduct complex negotiations. The Chartering Manager will keep in constant contact with brokers, charterers, and owners, and will use industry-leading systems and methodology to enhance its performance.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify suitable vessels as and when required by the company for it’s business needs.
  • Monitor fixture reports and chartering market trend, provide market analysis to management upon requests.
  • Facilitate and negotiate terms with vessel owners.
  • Draft and finalize agreements.
  • Work with other departments within the organisation in vessel search, shortlisting of vessel candidates, etc.
  • Serve as the primary contact between vessel owners and internal customers. Maintaining strong relationships with shipowners, brokers, and charterers to secure favourable terms and ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of charter agreements, communication, etc.
  • Any ad-hoc duties as and when assigned.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in maritime with similar role, preferably in the ship owner’s or shipping sectors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Management, or related field.
  • Being familiar with containership type and features, have strong sense of market trend and charter market pricing.
  • Significant experience in chartering and operations within the maritime industry
  • Strong ability to negotiate and finalize agreements.
  • Make informed decisions based on market insights.
  • Submit reports and update management on market changes.
  • Good at building strong relationships with vessel owners, brokers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Prioritize tasks and adapt in a fast pace, changing environment.
  • Have a good general IT knowledge.
  • Excellent in communication skills.
