The Wintel Engineer is responsible for specialized support in planning, installation, and administration of workplace management systems, focusing on endpoint and cloud infrastructure management. This role requires expertise in Windows-based environments, cloud services, and automation tools to optimize the deployment and maintenance of workplace solutions. Responsibilities also include enhancing operational procedures, ensuring system efficiency, and adhering to best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Endpoint Hardware & Imaging Management: Install, configure, test, and maintain endpoint hardware and images, covering OS, applications, drivers, upgrades, updates, and hotfixes.
- Patch Management & Software Distribution: Plan, implement, and oversee Patch Management and Software Distribution services.
- Cloud Infrastructure Administration: Design, deploy, and maintain AWS and Azure services, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability. Manage services including EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, Azure App Services, and SQL Database.
- Cloud-Native Application Deployment: Collaborate with development teams to architect and deploy cloud-native applications, leveraging AWS and Azure capabilities.
- Infrastructure Automation: Use infrastructure-as-code tools like CloudFormation or Terraform to automate and maintain AWS and Azure environments.
- Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve issues related to AWS/Azure infrastructure, applications, and connectivity.
- Disaster Recovery: Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies for cloud resources.
- Workplace Management Tools: Administer and troubleshoot backend services, with a focus on PC imaging, workplace management tools, and resolving desktop/server escalations.
- Quality Assurance & Process Improvement: Conduct Quality Assurance testing on endpoint devices and contribute to the automation and streamlining of daily operational processes.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation and generate reports to ensure clear communication and record-keeping.
- Additional Duties: Support other duties as required to ensure the efficient operation of workplace management systems.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering or Information Systems.
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience with Windows Servers, Active Directory, PowerShell, Group Policy Objects, and workplace management tools (e.g., HC BigFix, MS SCCM, Citrix VDI, Nexthink).
- Proficiency in PC imaging deployment, patch management, and software distribution for both desktop and server environments.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of AWS and Azure services, including infrastructure and automation (CloudFormation, Terraform).
- Solid networking and security knowledge for AWS and Azure environments.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (e.g., Git), and scripting languages (Python, Shell).
- Working experience with MSI technology, application packaging, and deployment processes.
- Knowledge of custom actions, scripting, and Windows Installer technology for troubleshooting.
- Certifications: AWS or Azure certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator) are a plus.
- Soft Skills: Effective communication, documentation experience, strong troubleshooting abilities, self-driven, and able to work independently.
