We are looking for a dedicated and proactive team player for the Trade Manager role. The ideal candidate should have strong commercial and business acumen, fundamental shipping containers knowledge, and the ability to work independently while simultaneously collaborating with teammates.
The duties of the Trade Manager, can be broken down into two categories:
- Pricing & Contract Management
- Cargoflow and Utilization
Pricing & Contract Management
- Assist the Lead Trade Manager in overall commercial activities of your assigned area (SEA)
- Initiate and implement Pricing Strategies to achieve given objectives.
- Ensuring all decisions/strategies made are aligned with Group/Management direction.
- Ensuring all contracts & rates are compliance with FMC & SSE regulation with accurate and timely filing.
- Work closely with Key NVO and BCO desks in both Singapore SEA Regional Office and Shanghai Head Office for all Southeast Asia service contracting discussions.
- Ensure Pricing team conduct proper housekeeping/tracking and management of all Southeast Asia service contracts (both FOB and CIF).
- Proactively source for reliable market intelligence (rates/capacity adjustments) to stay on top of market changes.
- Other duties/ad-hoc tasks as assigned.
Cargoflow and Utilization
- Establish and maintain close effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including agencies and customers.
- Proactively monitor and analyze origin allocation and forecasts, vessel performance, loading factors, vessel daily positions to ensure full utilizations.
- Proactively monitor and analyze vessel profiles in order to make recommendations to improve cargo mix for maximum Yield.
- Oversee and analyze Southeast Asia services pricing and space allocations.
- Improve work processes to enhance efficiency & communication within the team.
- Ensure synergies between SEA trade and TP/EU/ISC/ME trades during planning & management
- Other duties/ad-hoc tasks as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
- Min. Bachelor of Science in Maritime Studies with Specialisation in International Trading, Second Major in Business, or Business Management.
- Minimum 6 years working experience in the container shipping / freight-forwarding (ocean-freight) industry.
- Good market knowledge, understanding of Southeast Asia trade is not a must but will be an advantage.
- Proficient in MS Excel, specifically in Vlookup, Pivot-table, basic formulas.
- Strong communication skills and customer oriented
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment.
- Strong attention to details and effective analytical skills with ability to understand complex information.
- Good ethics and professional conduct, with strong sense of responsibility and teamwork spirit.
- Effectively bilingual in both English and Mandarin (as the position needs to frequently communicate with English/Chinese speaking associates verbally/ in writing whenever appropriate.
