The Role:
Provide Nursing leadership, management and direction in regard to setting and maintaining quality standards, staff development and resource management in daily operation of the unit. The Nurse Manager has an overall accountability for the standard of patient care, appropriate matching of nurse competence to patient need, occupational health and safety of the staff, and clinical risk management. The Nurse Manager is the face of the organisation to the key customers, doctors, patients, their families and friends.
Key Accountabilities:
- Set unit goals and objectives in consultation with clinical team.
- Responsible for induction process, competency assessment, staff learning needs and plans for nurses’ career progression.
- Evaluate the quality and appropriateness of nursing care and make appropriate changes in nursing care delivery.
- Facilitate reviews on occurrence reports and ensure plans are implemented to prevent future occurrences.
- Monitor budget and expenditure to ensure efficient and effective use of consumables.
- Plan schedule to ensure efficient use of adequate skill mix in proportion to patient acuity and census.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Must possess at least a Bachelor Degree in Nursing, and preferably with Post Basic qualifications in Perioperative / Perianaesthesia Nursing
- Must be a Registered Nurse with Singapore Nursing Board
- At least 4 years of relevant experience in a similar job position and department
- 5-day work week, AM and afternoon shifts required. Must be open to covering on-call duties when required
