JOB PURPOSE
The role is primarily responsible for educating children by introducing concepts that they will explore further in kindergarten and elementary school.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare children by introducing concepts they will explore further in kindergarten and elementary school
- Work with children in groups or one on one, depending on the needs of children and the subject matter
- Plan and carry out a curriculum that targets different areas of child development, such as language, motor, and social skills
- Organize and supervise activities so children can learn about the world, explore interests, and develop talents
- Develop schedules and routines to ensure children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime
- Watch for signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring problems to the attention of parents
- Keep records of the students’ progress, routines, and interests, and keep parents informed about their child’s development
- Work with children from different ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds. Teachers include topics in their lessons to teach children to respect people of different backgrounds and cultures
- Other duties as and when assigned.
Job Requirements
- Trained in Certificate/Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE)
- Certified by ECDA as a Level 1 or Level 2 teacher
- Holds a valid first aid certificate recognised by ECDA
- Has at least 1 year of teaching experience in a pre-school setting
- Speaks clear and fluent English
- Able to use computer software such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- Enthusiastic, imaginative and energetic individual capable of gaining the full potential from each child.
- Have not committed any offence under the Children and Young Persons Act or any other office involving child abuse or child neglect
