The Quantity Surveyor will play a key role in handling tenders and managing specialist trade projects, including cost estimation, contract administration, and ensuring financial efficiency. This role requires strong expertise in tender management and an ability to work with specialist trades to deliver accurate cost planning, budgeting, and project financial control.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Tender Management:Prepare and review tender documents, specifications, and bills of quantities to facilitate accurate and competitive tender submissions.
    Analyze and assess tender submissions, comparing costs and ensuring alignment with project requirements and budget.
    Collaborate with the procurement team to negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors for competitive pricing and terms.
  2. Cost Estimation and Budgeting:Conduct detailed cost estimates and prepare budgets for specialist trade projects, factoring in materials, labor, equipment, and overheads.
    Prepare cash flow projections and identify potential cost savings or risks, updating the budget as project phases progress.
    Ensure accurate and up-to-date cost data by conducting regular market analysis.
  3. Contract Administration:Manage and administer contracts, including drafting contract terms, monitoring contractual obligations, and resolving any disputes.
    Track project costs, monitor work progress, and prepare valuations, payments, and variations as per contract terms.
    Prepare final account statements, ensuring all financial matters are settled in alignment with project specifications.
  4. Collaboration and Coordination:Work closely with the project management and construction teams to provide financial insights, ensuring the alignment of budgets with project goals.
    Coordinate with specialist trade contractors to understand technical requirements, material specifications, and labor demands.
    Assist in risk assessments and provide cost control support throughout the project lifecycle.
  5. Reporting and Documentation:Prepare regular financial reports and cost summaries for stakeholders, providing insights on financial status, budget variance, and cost forecasts.
    Maintain thorough records of all tender documents, contract agreements, correspondence, and financial documents for transparency and compliance.

Requirements:

  1. Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in quantity surveying, with a focus on tendering and specialist trade projects.
  2. Technical Skills:Proficient in cost estimation and quantity surveying software .
    Strong understanding of construction contract types and cost control techniques.
    Knowledgeable in the scope and cost implications of specialist trades (e.g., MEP, steel structures, interior fit-outs).
  3. Project Management Skills: Excellent time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tenders and projects simultaneously.
    Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for efficient budget management and cost optimization.
  4. Soft Skills:Effective communication and negotiation skills for dealing with suppliers, contractors, and project stakeholders.
    Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality in tender and cost documentation.
    Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and independently when required.
