As a Steel Structure Engineer specializing in steel structures, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing the construction and integrity of steel-based structural components and frameworks. This role involves ensuring structural safety, compliance with codes and regulations, and independent delivery of engineering solutions from inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Analysis: Conduct structural design calculations for steel components, connections, and frameworks, ensuring compliance with relevant codes (e.g., AISC, Eurocode, or BS standards).
Analyze load-bearing requirements, seismic impact, and material properties to create safe, efficient designs.
Create detailed drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Project Management: Manage steel structure projects from initial design to final implementation, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating with other teams.
Perform risk assessments, implement quality control procedures, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Monitor project progress, making adjustments as necessary to stay on track with timelines and budgets.
- Collaboration and Coordination:Work closely with architects, civil engineers, project managers, and construction teams to integrate structural requirements into overall project design.
Coordinate with suppliers and contractors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials and execution of installation.
Provide technical guidance and oversight to junior engineers and drafters.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance: Conduct on-site inspections, quality checks, and structural assessments to ensure compliance with design specifications.
Ensure that all steel structures meet safety and regulatory requirements, adapting designs as needed for unforeseen challenges.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare project reports, cost estimates, and technical summaries for stakeholders.
Maintain organized records of project documentation, calculations, and revisions.
Requirements:
- Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field. At least 2 years of experience in steel structure engineering, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD Pro, ETABS, SAP2000) and CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Tekla, Revit).
Solid understanding of steel design standards, load calculations, material properties, and connection detailing.
- Project Management Skills:Strong project management abilities, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Ability to independently lead a project from start to finish, making critical decisions as necessary.
- Soft Skills:Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality. Problem-solving skills to address design and site challenges effectively.
