Primary Responsibilities:
- The candidate shall supervise and review the design of the electrical team by checking specifications, schedules, datasheets, drawings, and 3D models to ensure quality, safety, and technical standards are adhered to.
- The candidate shall have experience gained by delivering projects across the complete project lifecycle, from front-end engineering design (FEED) through detailed design, technical assurance, testing and commissioning, and final handover.
- The candidate shall review clients, design engineers and/or third-party design and information to determine suitability and liaise with those concerned to obtain further information if necessary.
- The candidate produces design layouts which are cost effective, meet the requirements of the specification and which can be constructed and commissioned effectively. The term ‘cost’ is to embrace all costs associated with the design and the subsequent construction of the design that are cost-effective, meet the specification's requirements, and can be constructed and commissioned effectively. - The candidate shall provide and carry out to be cost effective the whole out turn cost of the design solution must be considered including design time costs, material costs, erection costs and any impact that the design solution might have on other disciplines.
- The candidate shall liaise with other disciplines within the organisation or the project team to ensure that all design elements are fully integrated.
- The candidate shall have extensive expertise in the technical execution of process plant systems within an intricate water industry.
- The candidate shall be proficient in participating in design and construction initiatives utilising digital design methodologies.
- The candidate shall have experience in leading design delivery, including multidisciplinary design.
- The candidate shall be able to write and review technical documentation (technical specifications, control philosophies, URS)
- The candidate shall have excellent knowledge ICA design (instrumentation, PLC and SCADA systems), motor control systems, system architecture, fieldbus/communication networks, P&ID’s, ATEX installation practice, functional safety, development of control specifications (URS/FDS), schedules and system requirements within process/industrial environment.
- The candidate shall have excellent proficiency in designing within appropriate digital analysis packages, following applicable standards, working practices and national guidance.
- The candidate shall ensure that standard practices are utilised wherever possible.
- Maintain competitiveness.
- The candidate shall provide estimates and feedback for the Proposals department as required.
- The candidate shall work through procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of the department.
- Assist in developing procedures and processes.
- Monitor and review the procedures and processes.
- The candidate shall write, update and monitor efficient procedures to aid the smooth running of the department.
- Ensure co-ordination of designs with all other disciplines internal and external to ensure that the design processes carried out on the contract are coordinated for the benefit of the contract as a whole.
- The candidate shall maintain files and records throughout the duration of contracts.
- The candidate shall assist in supervising and developing staff
- Assist in ensuring a safe working environment for all staff
- Reduce waste to a minimum from all departmental activities
- Ensure designs take account of environmental issues

Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Candidate shall have about 8 years of experience in Instrumentation, Control, & Automation design works, preferably with contractor experience.
- Experience working on water and sewage treatment projects will be an advantage.
- Experience in monitoring members of staff in designing relevant discipline aspects of water and sewage treatment plants will be an advantage.
- Ability to rationalize designs and produce economic plant layouts.
- Ability to present technical proposals clearly, confidently and convincingly.
- Able to work independently in producing the project deliverables to meet the project timeline.
- A flexible mind with the ability to assimilate large amounts of different data at one time.
- Proficient in written and oral communication with good interpersonal skills.
