Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Fellow in the Department of Paediatrics, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Appointments will be made on a 10-month contract.

Main duties and responsibilities

A Research Fellow (RF) position is available at the National University of Singapore.

The RF will contribute to the development and implementation of statistical analyses within different projects in the field of Medical Statistics and Biostatistics, involving data from large heterogeneous cohorts such as GUSTO and S-PRESTO (more info at https://www.gusto.sg/ and https://www.s-presto.sg/ ). The projects are developed in close collaborations with researchers from A*STAR Institute of Human Development and Potential (IHDP) and NUS, working in different scientific areas, such as metabolomics and neuroscience, contributing to the interdisciplinary environment of the Institute. As such, excellent scientific communication skills are highly desirable. The RF will be asked to perform both routine and advanced statistical analyses, often characterized by a strong computational aspect.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, longitudinal data analysis, graphical models, high-dimensional data analysis and Bayesian statistics. The candidate will work closely with Prof De Iorio, as well as collaborate with other researchers in A*STAR and NUS.

Applicants should hold or be close to submitting a PhD in Statistics or a related field such as Biostatistics, Mathematics or Computer Science, with a documented competence in Statistics and/or Biostatistics.

Knowledge of programming in R and other coding languages commonly used in Statistics such as C++/Python.

Qualifications

The applicant should:

  1. Hold a Ph.D., preferably in Statistics/Computer Science
  2. Have a strong background and extensive research experience in conducting human trials;
  3. Have a good record of international publications in human research;
  4. Proficient in the use of computer applications and data analysis software, e.g.MS Office, SPSS;
  5. Excellent command of spoken and written English, and have strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  6. Work independently and a good team player; and
  7. Have an investigative nature and detail-oriented, highly motivated problem-solver.

Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
