ABOUT THE ROLE
You will join the Programmes and Services department as a Programme Instructor in both outdoors and indoor settings.
Your key roles will include the following:
(a) PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION
- Research, plan and conduct animals-assisted learning programmes and services, serving different groups of beneficiaries.
- Expected to apply assessment frameworks and innovative approaches in programmes design.
- Coordinate with schools, partners and stakeholders to coordinate logistical matters.
- Perform programme administrative duties including beneficiaries’ progress reports, data collection for evaluation measures and reports.
- Coordinate with Volunteer Manager to tap on volunteers to support programmes where needed.
- Attend equine-assisted learning trainings as assigned while on job.
- Contribute to advocacy and research work related to our work, where possible
- Organise events and activities for EQUAL’s partners or beneficiaries.
(b) ANIMALS HANDLING
- Learn the fundamentals of animals management including horse handling and demonstrate basic proficiency in handling horses during programmes.
- Provide operational assistance by helping out at EQUAL stables when needed or assigned.
- Assist Animals Welfare and Operations Team with husbandry duties before or after programme.
This role may require to work on weekends and public holidays if there are programmes or events. You will report to the Programme Manager and work closely with the Programmes & Services team members. You are to support other ad-hoc activities or projects and to assist in other activities/ works as instructed by your Reporting Officer.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Preferred Experience
- 1 to 2 years of relevant working experience with students from primary to secondary schools settings, disabilities groups or elderlies in community settings.
- Prior experience with horses is beneficial but not necessary.
- This position is required to liaise with the elderlies in multi-cultural community settings. Thus, the ability to converse in mother tongues and dialects are required.
- Fresh graduates are welcomed.
Technical Competencies
- Educational and professional background in social work, counselling and psychology will be an advantage.
- Familiarity with evidence-based framework.
- Facilitation skills in group work.
- Computer proficiency.
