The Senior Research Fellow will join the SERI AIDH Group for a six-month period. This role involves designing advanced AI algorithms for analyzing fundus photos, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), and OCT Angiography (OCTA) to detect retinal diseases and implementing these algorithms in real-world clinical settings.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop AI algorithms for analyzing fundus photos, OCT, and OCTA images to detect retinal diseases. Ensure algorithms are robust, accurate, and clinically relevant
- Collaborate with clinical and technical teams to validate and refine AI models based on real-world data and feedback
- Implement AI algorithms in real-world clinical settings, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems
- Oversee data collection, annotation, and preprocessing to ensure high-quality input for AI models. Manage large datasets, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory standards
- Prepare and submit a first-author paper to a high-impact journal
- Ensure research findings are well-documented, reproducible, and meet high academic standards
- Mentor junior researchers and contribute to a collaborative research environment
- Drive collaborations with international academic institutions and industry partners
Requirements
- Minimum a PhD in bioengineering, computer science, or a related field
- Relevant Experience of at least 8-year experience in research with a proven track record in AI algorithm design, especially in the healthcare domain
- Significant experience in analyzing medical images, particularly fundus photos, OCT, and OCTA
- Demonstrated ability to publish high-impact research papers.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in AI and machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, and MATLAB
- Experience with image processing and computer vision techniques
- Knowledge of clinical workflows and the ability to translate AI models into practical clinical applications
- Experience with data management and regulatory compliance in healthcare research
