We are partnered with an established oragnisation in search of a Data Center Engineer.
12 Hours Rotating Shift
The Data Center Engineer will focus on the installation, maintenance, and management of data center hardware and infrastructure. This role is responsible for monitoring hardware performance, maintaining an accurate inventory of data center equipment, and coordinating with vendors for procurement, repairs, and warranty services. The technician will ensure that all hardware operations support uptime requirements and efficiency across the data center.
- Hardware Installation & Maintenance: Install, configure, and decommission servers, storage devices, network equipment, and other hardware as required. Conduct regular maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of hardware systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Coordinate and perform hardware upgrades or replacements to maintain up-to-date infrastructure.
- Vendor Coordination & Management:Engage with vendors to source, order, and manage hardware procurement, ensuring timely delivery and installation. Handle vendor communications for equipment maintenance, repairs, and warranty claims. Review and evaluate vendor performance, track service agreements, and escalate issues as needed.
- Data Center Operations Support:Perform regular walk-throughs and visual inspections to ensure hardware and environment meet operational standards. Monitor power and cooling systems, coordinate with facility teams for any required adjustments to environmental conditions. Ensure data center hardware setups align with SLAs and availability targets, reducing downtime risks.
- Documentation & Reporting:Keep thorough records of installations, repairs, configurations, and hardware movements within the data center. Develop and maintain SOPs for hardware management, vendor coordination, and inventory procedures. Generate and present regular reports on inventory levels, vendor issues, and hardware performance metrics.
- Security & Compliance:Ensure compliance with security protocols and data center access policies, managing hardware-related security aspects. Support periodic audits for physical security and inventory management to align with company standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (preferred but not required).
- CAT 1 Security Clearance
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in data center hardware management, IT infrastructure, or a similar role.
- Certifications: CompTIA A+, Server+, or other relevant certifications (preferred).
Skills:
- Hardware Expertise: Strong understanding of servers, storage devices, networking hardware, and related data center infrastructure.
- Inventory Management: Experience in tracking and managing inventory levels, procurement processes, and forecasting needs.
- Vendor Relations: Ability to effectively manage vendor relationships and coordinate hardware delivery, maintenance, and warranty services.
