Job Purpose
To practice all IVF laboratory procedures and related laboratory activities under supervision in order to provide a quality laboratory service to customers, both internal and external.
Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Practice all IVF procedures in accordance to laboratory protocols.
- Practice of IVF procedures include the following:
- Sperm analysis and washing
- Egg identification, selection, maturation and fertilization
- Insemination (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection.
- Grading and scoring of eggs and embryos
- Embryo culture and monitoring of embryos
- Selection of embryos for embryo transfer into patients
- Participation together with IVF clinicians in the transfer of embryos into patients
- Cryopreservation and thawing and of surplus embryos
- Perform quality control procedures in the IVF laboratory
- Tease and identify testicular spermatozoa from testicular biopsy.
- Updating him/herself with new knowledge / skill via internet / workshops / courses / conferences.
- Report adverse incidents or accidents to the supervisor.
- Undertake preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Perform quality control test when required.
- Carry out the instructions of Chief embryologist with regards to work procedures and duties.
- Observe rules and regulations of ART Laboratory.
Secondary Responsibilities and Duties
- Participate in the washing and sterilization of glassware and glass Pasteur pipettes.
- Up keeping laboratory tidiness and cleanliness.
- Participate in laboratory related administrative work such as filing of forms, and entry of growth in vitro information into database.
- Maintain liquid Nitrogen level in the embryo storage tanks.
- Participate actively in the organization and effective running of workshops / seminars / conferences organized by ART laboratory.
Job Requirements
- Possess at least a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in Microbiology / Clinical Embryology / Reproductive biology / Biological Sciences or equivalent
- Able to perform under pressure.
