Job Overview:
The Account Manager (Import) will oversee customer service and operations for all international air import freight activities, ensuring compliance with industry and government standards. This onsite role includes managing the entire freight movement process, from origin to customs clearance, with a strong focus on import procedures and transportation logistics.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the collection and delivery of freight for international air imports.
- Manage operational, routing, and customer service responsibilities for assigned shipments.
- Identify solutions for customers based on rates and service, using preferred truckers and vendors.
- Coordinate with shippers, consignees, and air carriers to facilitate smooth shipment flows.
- Prepare and complete all necessary import documentation to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Enter import shipment details accurately into the system.
- Review and process documents, liaising with origin offices for clarification as needed.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers and vendors.
- Offer classification recommendations to customers upon approval.
- Address customer inquiries on shipment status, import milestones, and charges within company guidelines.
- Escalate complex customer issues to management when necessary.
- Handle billing and invoicing for shipments.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in a logistics, shipping, supply chain or any relevant field.
- Knowledge of air freight operations (permit declaration experience is a plus).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of international air import operations, including regulatory compliance, and be willing to address occasional after-hours situations.
