Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the vessel's machinery and systems are properly maintained and serviced, following planned maintenance schedules.
- Ensure compliance with international and local regulations, including SOLAS, MARPOL, and other relevant standards.
- Implement and enforce safety management systems, conducting regular safety audits and risk assessments.
- Facilitate training programs for crew members on equipment operation, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
- Prepare and manage budgets for maintenance, repairs, and operational expenditures, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Investigate any accidents, incidents, or near misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Provide technical assistance and advice to the ship’s crew regarding machinery issues and operational challenges.
- Oversee the inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables, ensuring adequate stock levels for maintenance and repairs.
- Monitor vessel performance data, such as fuel consumption and operational efficiency, to identify areas for improvement.
- Act as a liaison with flag state authorities, classification societies, and service providers for inspections, repairs, and compliance matters.
Requirements:
- Tanker seagoing experience as a Chief Engineer or Second Engineer (at least COC Class 2 or 3), or at least 2 years of experience as technical superintendent for oil tankers and bunker tankers.
- Strong sense of integrity and professionalism.
- Excellent leadership, teamwork, management and communication skills.
