Primary Objectives of Position
- Manage the overall supervision of maintenance activities in depot and workshop
- Responsible for the availability of passenger trains, engineering train vehicles, light rail vehicles and workshop overhaul or plant equipment for mainline operation.
- Manage the budget expenditure of the section
- Ensure all defects on vehicles/equipment are rectified in a safe and responsive way.
- Provide an effective technical support service to all other Rolling Stock sections, including development and control of an overall maintenance plan, provision of Work Instructions, procedures and technical documentation and provision of regular performance information.
- Ensure that Rolling Stock staff and contractors within their sections are adequately trained and competent to perform their tasks safely and proficiently in the railway environment.
- Overall-in-charge of managing corrective and preventive maintenance of NEL/SPLRT passenger trains, engineering trains, light rail vehicles, or depot plant equipment.
- Overall-in-charge for all engineering projects in NEL/SPLRT Rolling Stock.
Major Responsibilities
- The day-to-day management of staff in their section.
- Ensuring individual roles, functions and responsibilities are clearly defined and communicated.
- Managing section budget resources to maximize maintenance outcomes and improve customer satisfaction.
- Providing advice and support to the HOD and Executive management as required.
- Identifying areas for improvement through training and development programs
- Ensure all staff are adequately trained and competent.
- Manage, lead, and motivate the section to achieve reliability, quality, cost and availability targets to meet customer needs.
- Maintain the performance of all vehicles and depot equipment.
- Perform and standby for company and department duty schedule such as PST, EIC, AEIC or Rerailment duty

Specific Safety Responsibilities
- Ensure all work related to the section are undertaken in a safe way during all maintenance activities in Sengkang Depot.
- Undertake Monthly Safety Observations of all areas under the purview of Rolling Stock and ensure that controls are in place to achieve safety.
Job Specifications
Minimum Education / Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Engineering from a recognized university or polytechnic.
Minimum Years of Relevant Experience
- Preferably with 3 years of relevant experience in Railway Engineering/Maintenance or equivalent
Knowledge/Skills
- Strong Communication, Writing, Analytical and Problem solving skills
- Knowledge of Training and Development, preferably with full ACTA qualification
- Conversant in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
