The Exxon Mobil-NTU-A*Star Corp Lab is one of the large-scale research programs housed under the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N), which focuses on large-scale applications of carbon in concrete. The EM- NTU – A*Star Corp Lab is closely related to the University’s mission to be a global leader in sustainable development and peak of excellence in sustainable earth. The Corp Lab is currently hiring for a Research Associate to join the exciting research project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on carbon material enhanced concretes with various forms of carbon. The developed materials must be demonstrated in suitable large-scale applications.
- In charge of testing of all relevant aspects of advanced concrete material developed
- Conduct cost-benefit and LCA analysis of the material developed
- Opportunity to interact/collaborate with other colleagues within PI’s group. The topics currently are actively pursed in the group include self-healing material, self-sensing material, sustainable cementless material with regional waste/by-products, 3D printable concrete material, low carbon footprint concrete with carbon materials from different sources and their structural applications.
Job Requirements:
- Master’s degree from a renowned university in material science, civil, chemical engineering or related fields with relevant research experience/expertise and strong journal publication record.
- Extensive knowledge on carbon material enhanced concrete/geopolymer material
- Familiar with relevant analytical and experimental technique/skills, hands-on experience as well as solid theoretical background; excellent paper/report writing skills.
- Have relevant experiment skills such as nano and/or microstructural based material tailoring, novel and sustainable concrete development, geopolymer or other green cement, mechanical testing, thermal and/or electrical conductivity testing, and material chemical and micro-structural analysis.
