- Develop a comprehensive and overarching philanthropic strategy that aligns with the organisation’s vision, mission and values, ensuring a focus on the organisation’s well-being mandate.
- Conduct thorough research and needs assessments to identify the most pressing issues and opportunities within the target communities. This should involve both quantitative data analysis and qualitative insights from community stakeholders.
- Craft a multi-year strategic plan that outlines clear goals, objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the foundation's initiatives. This plan should also include a roadmap for expanding the foundation's reach and impact over time. They should be able to address the unique needs of marginalized parents and children.
- Use data-driven insights to regularly review and refine the strategic plan based on ongoing feedback, evaluation results, and changing community dynamics.
- Collaborate with senior management to integrate philanthropy initiatives with other organizational efforts.
- Prepare regular reports and updates for senior management and stakeholders, showcasing the foundation's achievements, challenges, and future plans.
Financial Management
- Develop a sustainable financial plan and resource mobilization strategy which involves budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation, to ensure the efficient and effective utilization of funds.
- Collaborate with the finance and accounting teams to establish clear financial processes and controls that adhere to industry standards and compliance requirements.
- Identify diverse funding sources, including corporate sponsorships, individual donations, grants, and partnerships, to secure the necessary resources for the foundation's initiatives.
- Lead fundraising efforts with potential donors, sponsors and partners to secure financial resources for philanthropic initiatives, including grant writing, donor engagement, and corporate partnerships.
- Establish a system for tracking and reporting financial performance, expenses, and investment outcomes related to philanthropic initiatives. Regularly review financial reports to ensure alignment with the foundation's objectives.
- Implement mechanisms for accountability and transparency in financial management, both internally within the foundation and externally to stakeholders and donors.
- Monitor and manage financial risks associated with the foundation's activities, and proactively address any potential challenges or deviations from the financial plan.
Community Partnership Strategy
- Establish and nurture partnerships with through multi-sector partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders, including social service organizations, government agencies, NGOs, educational institutions, businesses, community leaders, and grassroots organizations.
- Conduct thorough mapping of existing resources, services, and initiatives within the target communities to identify gaps and areas where the foundation's interventions can have the most significant impact.
- Collaborate with community partners to co-create initiatives that are culturally sensitive and tailored to the unique needs and aspirations of the communities. Engage in ongoing dialogue to ensure that the foundation's efforts remain relevant and responsive.
- Develop a partnership framework that outlines roles, responsibilities, and expectations for each stakeholder. This framework should foster a collaborative approach, encourage shared ownership, and promote transparent communication.
- Leverage the expertise and networks of community partners to amplify the foundation's reach and influence. Seek opportunities for joint initiatives, knowledge-sharing, and cross-sector collaboration.
Advocacy & Engagement
- Represent the philanthropy foundation in conferences, panel discussions, and public speaking engagements related to philanthropy, community development, and social impact. Continually raise awareness about its mission and impact.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive advocacy and communication strategy that raises awareness about the foundation's work, educates the public on the issues being addressed, and garners support for the initiatives.
- Utilize various communication channels, including traditional media, social media, public events, and community forums, to share success stories, impact metrics, and updates on the foundation's progress.
- Collaborate with marketing and communication teams to develop compelling content, including videos, articles, reports, and case studies, that effectively convey the foundation's mission and achievements.
- Engage with government ministries and agencies to advocate for policy changes and reforms that align with the foundation's goals and can create a conducive environment for community upliftment.
- Build and maintain relationships with influential individuals, thought leaders, and organizations within the philanthropic and social impact sectors to broaden the foundation's reach and influence.
Program Design and Management
- Develop a comprehensive program management framework that encompasses all aspects of the foundation's initiatives, including planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Build a Project business model that would be self-sustaining in the long term.
- Lead the design and development of individual programs and projects that align with the foundation's strategic goals and community needs (eg unique needs of parents and children in underserved areas). These would have a focus on education, skills development, healthcare, and socio-economic empowerment.
- Ensure that each program has clear objectives, target outcomes, and a well-defined implementation plan.
- Identify and engage external consultants, subject matter experts, and practitioners who can contribute specialized knowledge, skills, and insights to co-create and co-implement programs.
- Allocate resources efficiently, including financial, human, and technological resources, to ensure the successful execution of programs. Monitor resource utilization to ensure effective execution and within established timelines.
- Oversee the allocation of funds to various programs and projects, ensuring that resources are distributed efficiently and in accordance with the strategic priorities of the foundation. Program Evaluation
- Integrate innovation and technology where appropriate to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of programs. Explore creative solutions that can lead to sustainable change within the communities.
- Implement robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track the effectiveness and impact of philanthropic programs.
- Share evaluation findings and insights with stakeholders, donors, and partners to showcase the foundation's transparency, accountability, and commitment to evidence-based practices.
Team Leadership
- Build and manage a dedicated team of professionals, including program managers and support staff.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven track record of at least 15 years in nonprofit leadership roles, with a focus on philanthropy, corporate social responsibility (CSR), community development, or social services.
- Demonstrated success in creating and implementing impactful philanthropic strategies, particularly in underserved communities in Singapore.
- Strong network within the non-profit sector, including relationships with Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) - funded social service organizations, local businesses, and community leaders.
- Solid understanding of grant writing, donor relations, and fundraising techniques.
- Passion for community upliftment, social justice, and making a meaningful impact on the lives of marginalized individuals
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required; advanced degree preferred.
- Relevant Social Service, Social work, Counselling, Nonprofit Management qualifications highly preferred.
