Responsibilities
a. Comply with approved standards of nursing practices
b. Assist the Staff Nurse to supervise care staff and healthcare attendants
c. Work with Staff Nurse to uphold good outcomes through quality care
d. Assist the Staff Nurse in assessment of new admission of residents
e. Provide basic nursing care to the residents
f. Carry out nursing rounds with the Staff Nurse
g. Supervise care staff to ensure comfort and good personal hygiene of the resident under her/his care, e.g. bed bath/shower bath, changing of clothes and bed sheets and tidiness of the room
h. Supervise care staff to check, monitor and record residents’ vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and apex heart beats
i. Assist the Staff Nurse to ensure residents take their medicines
j. Guide care staff to assist in the transfer and positioning of non-ambulant residents
k. Supervise care staff to assist in serving diets and feeding residents who are unable to feed themselves
l. Maintain accurate documentation of care given
m. Assist in the admission and orientation of new residents
n. Perform rehabilitation procedures such as motion exercises for the residents and walking them
o. Organise and send residents for appropriate therapy as prescribed, e.g. occupational therapy, laundry, kitchen and ward work and garden cleaning
p. Coordinate visits for medical check-ups, arranging transport and accompanying residents to the hospital/polyclinic for follow up appointments
q. Initiate activities as first responder at emergency situations, alerts and supports the RN in such situations
r. Work with the Staff Nurse to maintain a safe and clean environment in the nursing home
s. Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Staff Nurse
REQUIREMENTS
- National ITE Certificate in Nursing or its equivalent recognized by Singapore Nursing Board
- At least 2 years’ experience as Enrolled Nurse
PROFESSIONAL LICENCE
- Enrolled with Singapore Nursing Board (SNB)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certified
