About Our Client
The client is a renowned chain brand, and they are currently rapidly expanding their global business.
Job Description
- Lead our global intellectual property related work in the overseas market including such as trademark portfolio management and brand protection and growth
- Lead and manage trademark protection related matters including judicial or administrative cases such as trademark opposition and cancellation actions
- Collaborate with external counsel and relevant internal functions such as brand and product teams to identify the most strategic areas for trademark protection and brand growth
- Develop and manage trademark clearance and prosecution strategy in the overseas market
- Collaborate with external counsel on trademark enforcement and brand protection strategies, including trademark opposition and cancellation actions
- Collaborate with external counsel to conduct pre-entry clearance
- Gather and evaluate evidence and specimens of use
- Identify and improve efficiency in the maintenance of our global trademark portfolio
- Collaborate with Branding team to establish global brand manual and licensing policies
- Draft, review and negotiate trademark licenses and agreements as needed
- Support Marketing team as needed to conduct legal compliance reviews of advertising content
The Successful Applicant
- A law degree from a prestige law school
- Qualification to practice law in at least one common law jurisdiction around the world; US state bar is preferred
- 8+ years of relevant substantive IP litigation, trademark and brand enforcement experience across all aspects of growing, maintaining and protecting a trademark portfolio, preferably with in-house experience
- Experiences with brand protection and collaboration across the globe, in particular in the United States
- Able to work independently and collaboratively, spot issues, prioritize and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced work environment
- Knowledge of, or desire to learn, advertising compliance laws and regulations
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to foster trust, respect, and collaboration with internal clients
- Strong team player and good business sense
- Strategic thinker with integrity and spirit of entrepreneurship
