Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the development and integration of innovative control system solutions to enable stable, efficient, and reliable production of grid tied power converters
- Support the design and building of tools that allow debugging, analysis, and evaluation of control system performance.
- Conduct root cause analysis for control system failures in products for integration and fielded units during escalations.
- Perform PCB design, test and evaluation on specific control circuit board including gate driver, microcontroller board and others
- Conduct various device characterizations including design and development of verification test systems.
- Performs integration activities including troubleshooting the control system, designing and executing test plans and test automation, to ensure the algorithms functions as designed.
- Documents work results with requirements, design specifications, procedures, and training materials.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Control System Design: Assist in the design and development of advanced control systems for power converters, considering factors such as efficiency, stability, and grid integration.
- Software Implementation: Collaborate with software engineers to implement control algorithms in embedded software and firmware.
- Testing and Validation: Design and execute test plans to validate control system performance and robustness.
- Hardware Integration: Work closely with hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration of control electronics with power converter hardware.
- PCB Design and Development: Work closely in the PCB design activities including test and verification
- Documentation: Prepare comprehensive documentation of control system designs, including specifications, schematics, and test reports.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve control-related issues during development and product testing phases.
- Compliance: Ensure that control systems meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in controls engineering, with a focus on power electronics field.
- Proficiency in control system design, analysis, and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink).
- Strong programming skills in languages such as C/C++ for embedded systems.
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and control system validation.
- Knowledge of grid integration, grid codes, and power quality standards is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
