I. Delivery Responsibilities
1. Pick-up and Delivery
- Accurately pick up parcels and documents from designated locations (such as warehouses, business premises, or collection points) in a timely manner according to the assigned schedule.
- Deliver packages to customers' addresses within the specified time frame, ensuring the correct recipient receives the item.
- Obtain signatures or other confirmation of delivery as required, and handle any issues or discrepancies related to the delivery promptly.
2. Route Planning
- Plan the most efficient delivery routes daily to optimize time and fuel consumption, taking into account traffic conditions, delivery priorities, and any special instructions or restrictions.
- Use navigation tools or maps effectively to ensure accurate and timely arrivals at destinations. Adjust routes as needed during the day due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., road closures, traffic jams).
3. Vehicle Maintenance and Safety
- Conduct daily pre-trip inspections of the delivery vehicle (such as a van, motorcycle, or bicycle, depending on the job) to check for mechanical issues, including tires, brakes, lights, and fluid levels.
- Report any vehicle problems or maintenance needs immediately to the supervisor and ensure the vehicle is kept clean and in good working order.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving or operating the vehicle. Wear appropriate safety gear (such as a helmet if using a motorcycle) at all times.
II. Customer Service
1. Interaction with Customers
- Provide professional and friendly customer service at all times. Greet customers with a smile and a positive attitude when making deliveries.
- Answer customers' questions regarding the delivery process, package contents, or any other inquiries in a clear and courteous manner.
- Handle customer complaints or concerns promptly and escalate complex issues to the appropriate supervisor for resolution. Ensure customer satisfaction with the delivery service.
2. Documentation and Communication
- Accurately complete all necessary delivery documentation, including delivery receipts, manifests, and any other required forms.
- Keep customers informed of any delivery delays or issues via phone calls, text messages, or other communication methods as appropriate. Provide estimated times of arrival when possible.
- Communicate effectively with the dispatch team and other colleagues to update them on the status of deliveries, any problems encountered, or changes in the schedule.
III. Administrative Tasks
1. Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate records of all deliveries made, including the date, time, recipient's signature, and any special notes or circumstances.
- Track and manage the inventory of parcels in the vehicle, ensuring that all items are accounted for and properly delivered.
- Submit regular reports to the supervisor on delivery performance, including metrics such as the number of deliveries completed, on-time delivery rate, and any issues or trends observed.
2. Compliance and Paperwork
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and legal requirements related to the delivery of parcels. This includes proper handling of sensitive or confidential materials if applicable.
- Complete any necessary administrative paperwork related to the job, such as expense reports for vehicle maintenance or fuel costs, time sheets, and other documentation as required by the company.
IV. Physical Requirements
1. Able to Lift and Carry
- Must be physically able to lift and carry heavy packages, typically weighing up to 50 pounds (or more depending on the specific job requirements) on a regular basis. This includes loading and unloading parcels from the vehicle.
2. Endurance and Stamina
- Have the physical endurance and stamina to work long hours, sometimes in various weather conditions. The job may involve walking, climbing stairs, and standing for extended periods while making deliveries.
V. Other Requirements
1. Availability
- Be available to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, as the delivery schedule may vary depending on the volume of parcels and customer demands.
2. Reliability and Punctuality
- Demonstrate a high level of reliability and punctuality. Consistently show up for work on time and complete deliveries according to the scheduled deadlines.
3. Basic Technology Skills
- Have basic knowledge and skills in using mobile devices or handheld scanners for tracking deliveries, receiving and sending information, and communicating with the dispatch center.
4. Geographical Knowledge
- Have a good understanding of the local area (including streets, neighborhoods, and business districts) where deliveries will be made to enhance efficiency and reduce delivery times.
5. Teamwork
- Be able to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and other couriers to ensure the smooth operation of the delivery process.
