The Economist is part of the Market Administration team that plays a key role in the evolution and development of Singapore’s wholesale electricity market for efficiency gains. He / She is the go-to person in the company for advice on market rules matters. The successful applicant is expected to assist the team leads and management primarily in making rule changes. This involves designing market solutions and covers the implementation, development and operational aspects of the changes.
Responsibilities
• Ensuring that recommendations made on market design and rule changes are consistent with the objectives of an efficient and competitive electricity industry in Singapore.
• Critically analyze the National Electricity Market of Singapore (NEMS) to identify areas of inefficiency and initiate improvements that reduce or eliminate them.
• Manage and present rule change proposals to the Rules Change Panel, the EMC Board and the Authority.
• Identify strategic opportunities for collaboration and develop proposals in consultation with key stakeholders.
• Promote knowledge building on the electricity market for the industry
• Facilitate participation in the market by being the liaison between market participants and internal departments on:
o Registration of Market Participants and Facilities
o Ad‐hoc queries on participation requirements
