Job Overview

This role leads the Company’s Human Resource Department. It focuses on overseeing all aspects of the Company’s HR strategies ensuring direct and clear alignment to the Company’s overall organizational and business strategies. It is required to deliver effective and impactful action plans including effective employee engagement interventions and essential people operations support, focused on making important contributions towards helping the Company to achieve its business plans and priorities, through its human resources. This role is also seen to be a strategic people advisor to the Company’s Management Team on important people implications in their people decisions including the shaping, development and implementation of the Company’s overall strategies, policy making and action plans.


The successful incumbent in this role will be someone who has the relevant extensive experience and proven track record in as many aspects of the Human Resource value chain, from the strategic to the operational level of each aspect, a highly engaging, articulate and influential HR leader who is experienced in engaging and working with different types of stakeholders across all levels, and has the pedigree of having successfully led, managed and guided successful high performing HR teams especially in highly successfulcommodities and energy trading businesses.


Reporting to the Managing Director, the specific responsibilities and requirements for this position are:-


Job Responsibilities

  • Formulate, develop and deliver on the Company’s HR strategies directly aligned to the Company’s organizational and business priorities focused on maximizing profitability and growth.
  • Be the overall in charge of the Company’s HR Department, including leading, enabling, and guiding the HR Team to become a successful high performing team.
  • Be the strategic and trusted HR leader and advisor to the Managing Director and the Company’s Management Team. This includes providing strategic, organizationaland business critical advice on organizational structures, headcount controls, high performance and rewards interventions, talent management and development, as well as providing them with useful and effective coaching and feedback guidance whenever needed.
  • Lead the Company’s efforts to be a highly desired leading Energy Trading Company, through successful and effective interventions to attract and recruit desired talents, motivate, and retain the Company’s talents and human resources.
  • Lead in the development and review of succession plans supported and agreeable by the Company’s relevant leaders. This also includes ensuring the Company has a sound and robust talent pipeline to enable the attraction of and development of high potential and important talents to meet Company’s needs.
  • Provide the strategies, resources and tools needed to enable effective employee development
  • Lead in the development and implementation of competitive and fit for purpose remuneration and rewards policies.
  • Ensure the engagement of and communication to employees are done effectively
  • Lead in enhancing the Company’s employee performance environment through providing a performance management framework targeted at maximizing employee performance
  • Ensure the Company’s people operations support is delivered effectively, efficiently and to commendable standards. This includes the onboarding of new employees, the managing of the Company’s HR policies and employee data, and the exiting of outgoing employees.
  • Ensure the Company is in compliance withthe relevant employment laws and regulations

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor or post-graduate degree holder, with a major in Human Resource Management
  • At least 13 to 15 years working experience in HR, of which at least 10 years have been in HR Leadership positions
  • Preferably to have or have had extensive experience in Commodity and/or Energy Trading companies
  • Has excellent interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills. This includes being able to develop commendable working relationships with different stakeholders of all levels both internally and externally of the Company
  • Possess extensive experience and skills in being highly adaptable, open-minded and resilient with a never give up attitude.
  • Possess strong business acumen and numeracy skills complemented with having the experience in being able to comfortably connect and align HR strategies to Organizational and Business strategies and business priorities.
  • Proficient in and comfortable with the Chinese language (both written and verbal). The selected candidate will at times be required to converse in Chinese with colleagues in and from Headquarters (HQ), and will be needed to prepare and submit reports in Chinese to Headquarters.
