The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) is the world’s leading independent authority on global security issues, providing information and analysis on a wide range of international security and political risk questions. The Institute conducts research on the problems of conflict, however caused, that may have a significant military dimension, and analyses international trends, including economic developments, which may have strategic implications. The Institute convenes high-level conferences – such as the annual IISS Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore – that bring together government officials, recognized experts, opinion-formers and business leaders at the most senior level, in order to enhance diplomatic exchanges and to enable the crafting of more effective policy on strategic matters.
The person appointed to this interesting role will be expected to display initiative and have a strong sense of responsibility for her/his basic duties and assigned tasks. She/he will play an important role in organising IISS-Asia events and projects, which will include lectures, roundtables and workshops including supporting the annual IISS Shangri-La Sherpa Meeting and the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue.
Project and Event Support Responsibilities:
- Coordinating and organising a wide range of workshops, roundtables and lectures which will include issuing invitations, liaison with foreign missions, monitoring and logging responses using the IISS CRM system, and managing telephone and email queries.
- Supporting the Conference and Events team on logistical arrangements including laison with event contractors where required.
- Working in partnership with the Conference and Events team to ensure best practice in the delivery of events.
Qualifications and experience:
- An undergraduate degree
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Workplace experience in organising conferences and events will be an advantage
This position is for a fixed term of two years and may be considered for renewal at the end of the contract. The salary offered will be accompanied by benefits including health insurance, life insurance, and statutory contributions.
