Nomura's Risk department manages and mitigates risks associated with the company's business activities. The department collaborates with senior leadership, business units, and stakeholders to develop and implement effective risk management strategies, providing guidance on market, credit, operational, and other risks. Role description:
International Wealth Management (“IWM”) is the business entity of Nomura Group that is focused on private banking business. IWM Risk Management seeks to effectively engage with all key stakeholders in the risk management process which includes Credit Risk, Portfolio Risk, Operational Risk, Risk Methodology and New Business covering the International Wealth Management Business.
Reporting to Senior Risk Manager, the Portfolio Risk Leadwill play a critical role in overseeing the risk management of our portfolio strategies, responsible for risk methodologies, collateral risk monitoring and operational efficiency.
Other duties include:
- Lead the development and implementation of risk management frameworks and policies for the International Wealth Management portfolio.
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in investment strategies.
- Monitor market trends and economic indicators to inform risk decisions.
- Prepare comprehensive risk reports for senior management, detailing risk exposures and potential impacts on portfolio performance.
- Utilize quantitative analysis to assess risk metrics and performance indicators.
- Collaborate with portfolio managers and investment teams to ensure alignment of risk management practices with investment strategies.
- Work closely with compliance and regulatory teams to ensure adherence to relevant regulations and standards.
- Manage and mentor a team of risk analysts, providing guidance on best practices in risk assessment and management.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to enhance the risk management framework.
- Implement improvements and innovations in risk management processes and tools.
Requirements:
- Minimum Degree from an accredited University.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in a Risk Management, Portfolio Management function within a Private Bank, with a minimum of two years’ experience leading a team.
- Experience in developing quantitative risk models, including Value at Risk (VaR), stress testing, scenario analysis and understanding of various financial instruments including equities, fixed income, derivatives, alternative investments, and structure products.
- Experience with database management system (e.g. SQL) for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
- Ability to work with large datasets and perform data analysis to inform risk assessments.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB for statistical analysis and risk modelling.
- Experience in automation risk assessment processes and developing custom analytical tools.
- Experience with using risk management systems and software for analysis and reporting such as Bloomberg, Avaloq, PowerBI and VBA.
- Undestanding of global regulatory frameworks BASEL III, MiFID II, Dodd-Frank that impact risk management practices in wealth management.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with complex financial data.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to work well under tight deadlines and handle multiple responsibilities.
