Responsibilites:
- Formulate and ensure effective implementation of farm management, regularly update best in class practices and methods, as well as new developments relating to animal health and nutrition, and egg production and quality
- Responsbile for day-to-day management of farm operations and staff, including allocation of work to ensure smooth running of the farm
- Assist in the development of strategic plans and meeting goals for the farm
- Update the farm’s business plan annually, including developing and managing the farm’s annual budget, and increasing profitability
- Prepare necessary reports and updates to Management
- Formulate and implement marketing and sales satrategies to push sale of eggs
- Directs flock management, planning and scheduling to ensure optimal egg production for profit maximization and work flow optimization, as well as management purposes.
- Manages the vaccination progam; select the strain of hens; schedule all flock replacements
- Provides flock performance input and poultry management guidance to the Pullet and Layer Managers
- Closely monitor animal health and productivity, and implements necessary changes to ensure optimal long term economic outcomes
- Ensure compliance with Government regulations and health and safety standards
- Respond to emergencies and solve problems effectively
- Organise maintenance/repair of farm property, equipment and machinery
- Assist with the recruitment and training of operational team, and supervise farm team
Your Profile
- Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience as a layer farm manager
- Business, planning and financial management skills
- Human Resource experience, including hiring, supervising, and evaluation of staff
- Experience of working with a Board of Directors and committees
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Able to manage and supervise a staff team
- Proven ability to cope with conflict, stress and crises
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
