Role Overview
This position plays a key role in upholding safety standards and compliance across the organization, with responsibilities that include guiding stakeholders, managing process safety, and overseeing contractor safety operations. As an EHS specialist, you will support new projects, facility upgrades, and help strengthen the EHS department’s standards and practices.
Scopes & Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in safety reviews for new projects and modifications, ensuring all initiatives align with company safety policies and MOM standards
- Conduct thorough safety evaluations at various project phases (e.g., Basic Design, Detailed Design, and Construction), identifying potential risks and implementing control measures.
- Lead and support Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies, identifying critical safety risks and ensuring the implementation of necessary safeguards.
- Manage contractor safety through a structured prequalification process, routine audits, and risk assessments (RA), ensuring adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Perform regular on-site audits of contractor activities, ensuring compliance with EHS protocols and addressing non-compliance issues promptly.
- Conduct toolbox briefings and lead Permit to Work (PTW) training sessions, fostering a safety-first culture among employees and contractors.
- Collect, analyze, and report key safety performance indicators to senior management, promoting continuous safety improvements.
- Monitor contractor risk assessments, track safety documentation, and ensure all certifications are kept up to date.
- Conduct field walk-throughs as part of PSSR and HAZOP reviews to identify hazards and ensure safety protocols are followed
- Review and approve bid waivers for safety-related projects, ensuring alignment with EHS policies.
- Review and update Trackwise and Document System records to ensure accuracy in safety-related documentation.
Qualifications
- Diploma/Degree in Engineering/ Environment, Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
- Experience in EHS within Pharmaceutical industry preferred
- Strong understanding of PSSR, HAZOP, risk management, and contractor safety practices
- Excellent communication skills for effective training and contractor coordination
