  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of carbon projects, from feasibility studies and scoping to implementation and monitoring, ensuring projects meet or exceed international standards.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local communities, Senegalese government agencies, NGOs, and industry stakeholders to promote collaboration and secure project support.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including Sustainability, Operations, and Compliance, as well as external consultants, to coordinate project development and ensure adherence to local regulations.
  • Ensure all projects comply with international sustainability certifications (e.g., RSPO, Verified Carbon Standard) and local environmental regulations.
  • Develop protocols for monitoring and reporting environmental impact, ensuring that all projects align with global carbon reduction and sustainable agricultural practices.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with environmental, operational, and financial aspects of carbon projects within the palm oil plantation environment.
  • Implement and monitor risk management practices to safeguard project progress and compliance with environmental standards.
  • Oversee budgeting and financial planning for all carbon projects, ensuring alignment with headquarters (Singapore) in terms of corporate financial goals and objectives.
  • Regularly report on project progress, carbon offset achievements, and financial performance to senior management in headquarters (Singapore), ensuring transparency and accountability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Agriculture, Sustainability, or related field; a Master’s degree in Environmental Management, Business Management or a similar field is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in sustainability, carbon management, or environmental project management in agriculture or plantation industries, ideally with experience in African or tropical regions.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale carbon reduction projects, preferably in the palm oil or agricultural sector.
  • Strong knowledge of carbon accounting, carbon offset standards, and sustainability certifications relevant to the palm oil industry (e.g., RSPO, ISO 14064).
  • Excellent project management, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with the ability to work effectively in diverse and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and financial analysis, with the ability to communicate effectively in both French and English (preferred).
  • Familiarity with land-use management practices, reforestation, and methane capture relevant to tropical agriculture.
