Gene Solutions provides medical diagnostics and screening tests for oncology and maternal health. We are expanding our new oncology hub in Singapore, and seeking Medical Laboratory Technicians with experience in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have a diploma or bachelor's degree in BioMedical/Life Science or a related field, along with 2 years laboratory hands-on experience in NGS technologies. The Medical Laboratory Technician will be responsible for conducting various laboratory tests, including NGS assays, and assisting in the analysis and interpretation of test results.
Working hours are Tues – Friday, 1 pm – 10 pm, and Sat 9:30 am – 5:30 pm.
This position is open only to Singapore Citizens or Singapore PRs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform Laboratory Testing:
- Conduct a wide range of laboratory tests from end-to-end genetic testing process.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring accuracy, precision, and reliability of test results.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and adhere to quality control measures to ensure accurate and consistent test results.
- Maintain laboratory records and documentation in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
2. Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS):
- Perform NGS library preparation, sequencing, and data analysis, utilizing appropriate platforms and software.
- Validate and troubleshoot NGS assays, ensuring reliable and high-quality sequencing data.
- Interpret NGS results and assist in the generation of reports, including variant calling and annotation.
- Stay updated on advancements in NGS technologies and contribute to the implementation of new methodologies or protocols.
3. Data Management and Reporting:
- Document and maintain accurate and complete records of all laboratory procedures and results.
- Analyze and interpret laboratory data, generate reports, and communicate findings to the laboratory team and healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate with the laboratory team to ensure timely delivery of test results and effective communication of critical findings.
- Assist in the preparation of scientific presentations, publications, and research projects, as necessary.

Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Laboratory Science, Biotechnology, Life Science or a related field.
- Experience and proficiency in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) techniques and data analysis.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, procedures, and equipment used in molecular biology and genetics.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow complex protocols and SOPs accurately.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with team members and healthcare professionals.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
- Prior experience in an NGS laboratory or clinical molecular testing lab is an advantage.
