Job Description
This role includes ensuring the maintenance, repair, and compliance of tankers with international regulations, managing budgets, coordinating with equipment maker, shipyards, repair companies and suppliers, and ensuring safe and efficient operation of the fleet. You should be independently assisting ship staff in troubleshooting technical issues, and work closely with regulatory bodies, Classification societies, local administration to ensure adherence to SOLAS, MARPOL & prevailing maritime laws and safety standards.
The role will oversee the technical operations of tanker vessels on tramping trade with Oil majors and oil traders. The role will ensure assigned vessels are maintained according to Company procedures & International regulations (Class, Flag, USCG, AMSA & other MoUs). The role includes regular overseas trips to inspect ships will be required. The successful candidate will have the ability to handle occasional work pressure.
Job requirements
- Proficiency certificate: MEO Class 1 Certificate of competency or Certificate of Competency (motor).
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree/Diploma or equivalent in Marine/Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 4-5 years of experience as Technical Superintendent in a Ship Management/Owner company looking after oil/chemical tankers, product tankers. Additional experience of Gas carriers is added preference.
- A minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience as Chief Engineer on Product Tanker.
- Able to prioritise workload and handle the ship operations independently.
- Prior experience in operating ME-C engine, Framo system, BWTS and EGCS.
- SIRE/ CDI inspections.
- Independently carry out the incident investigations.
- Drydocking (including special surveys) and retrofit.
- Proficient in English language.
- Good communication skills.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft office.
- Power presentation skills.
