Purpose and Scope

  • Provide performance and process expertise and operational excellence in Energy & Utilities assets (Cogen Power plant, Demin Water and Steam production, Boiler etc) management to ensure good plant availability, reliability and optimization.


Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Carry out plant performance monitoring, troubleshooting and optimization for Energy & Utilities assets (Combine Cycle Power Plants, Utilities Plants, Energy from Waste Plant, Wood Chip Boiler etc) to ensure good plant availability, reliability and optimization.
  • Establish and continuous improve the monitoring matrix to enable detection of short term and long term process and performance abnormality. Work closely with O&M team to address the issues.
  • Carry out quarterly performance test for power plants with operation team. Lead the performance test data analysis, identify the gap and improvement area, recommend the actions for rectification and follow through the implementation for closure.
  • Monitor the plant water chemistry, and recommend the actions to be taken for process adjustment such as boiler blowdown control, and chemical injection etc.
  • Establish, improve and monitor the plant and system mass balance (heat, material, and water etc), identify the abnormality such as leaks, uncounted loss, meter/instrument inaccuracy, and efficiency deterioration etc. Lead and coordinate other stakeholders to rectify the issues.
  • Carry out quarterly performance test for power plants with operation team. Lead the performance test data analysis, identify the gap and improvement area, recommend the actions for rectification and follow through the implementation for closure.

  • Keep track of the GHG emission intensity of the assets to achieve sustainability goals.
  • Provide technical expertise in the optimization initiative conceptualization and implementation. Keep track of the performance and cost savings benefits qualification and post implementation review of optimization initiatives.
  • Provide technical and operation insight to support in plant improvement projects and new energy and utilities project including process engineering review, calculations for mass/energy balances, equipment sizing, key equipment selection, material compatibility considerations and other duties assigned for process and engineering evaluation.
  • Support performance manager for any other assigned work.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Degrees in mechanical engineering/chemical engineering
  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in power/utilities plant operation, performance monitoring or process engineering
  • Process expertise in energy from waste sector and/or power plant water chemistry experience will be an advantage
