About the Role
As a Data Center Operations Technician on-site with our client, you’ll be part of a dynamic team, ensuring smooth operations and hardware support in a high-tech environment. This hands-on role is perfect for individuals passionate about technology and data centers, including fresh graduates eager to start their careers in a rapidly growing industry.
Key Responsibilities
• Hardware Support: Perform installations, moves, additions, and changes for IT equipment, including networks, servers, and storage devices.
• Decommission Equipment: Safely decommission and handle disposal of IT assets (HDD, SSD, backup devices).
• Cabling Management: Connect and disconnect patch cables to maintain structured cabling within the data center.
• Server Hardware Troubleshooting: Replace parts, reseat modules, and conduct SFP module and hardware fixes (HDD, memory, mainboard replacements).
• Data Center Inspections: Conduct regular physical and visual checks on equipment and facilities.
• Maintenance Support: Provide on-site assistance during scheduled maintenance and change events.
• Issue Troubleshooting: Resolve IT and network issues with timely updates and escalation as needed.
• Inventory & Vendor Management: Manage inventory (RMA, cold spares) and coordinate with vendors for repairs, installations, and scheduled visits.
• Access and Site Management: Handle data center access requests and manage operations at POP sites.
• Reporting and Process Improvement: Generate regular progress reports and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• On-Call and Shift Work: Be available for after-hours support based on an on-call schedule. (On-call and Shift allowance available!)
Requirements
• Experience: At least 1 year in Data Center operations preferred; fresh graduates with relevant knowledge are encouraged to apply.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in structured cabling, patching, and hardware troubleshooting.
• Problem Solving: Ability to address issues promptly with clear communication and escalation.
• Critical Environment Experience: Experience in large-scale data centers is a plus.
Preferred Skills and Knowledge
• Knowledge of rack, space, power, and cooling allocations
• Capacity management (space, power, cooling, patch panel availability)
• Familiarity with Incident/Change Management processes
• Understanding of Data Center Space, Power, and Cooling Management
• Relevant Certifications (e.g., CDCP, ITIL, Server+, Linux+, Network+, A+, CCNA) are advantageous
