- Assist the Manager to oversee and manage the Engineering Department.
- Technical review on new project orders and order assignments to Technical engineer & Drafter team.
- Ensure timely submission of engineering documents (Control Schematic Drawing, General Assembly Drawing, Wiring Diagram, Nameplate Drawing, Test Procedure, Data Sheet etc).
- To review project engineering documents prepared by Technical Engineer & Drafter team before submitting them to client.
- Provide advice and guidance to Technical Engineer & Drafter team for any technical queries and to support other ops team on various aspects of technical/engineering matters.
- To check and make recommendations based on common industrial engineering practice.
- To provide and implement cost effective and best engineering solutions for project to stay competitive.
- To provide sound engineering practice and engineering calculation where applicable in a timely manner to meet project timeline.
- To review international standards and/or project specifications for product compliance. i.e. ISO 12490 / API 6DX / IOGP S-707 / SHELL DEP standards etc related to Valve Automation and/or instrumentation.
- Providing field support for customers to resolve after-sales technical issues or technical clarifications.
- To attend internal/external kick off Meeting (KOM) when required.
- Travel with technicians to installation base and sites if the need arises.
- To assist manager to lead the department’s improvement programs and/or process efficiency initiatives.
- To assist manager in maintaining and updating the department's Standard Operating Procedures.
- To carry out Engineering personnel annual performance review to ensure competency and give counselling when required.
- Support new employee orientation by providing brief engineering department process flow training.
- Support and guide the Operations department in resolving aftermarket technical issues such as Product Design changes / Fault Finding / Supplier Discrepancies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical/Instrumentation or equivalent
- Minimum 6 to 8 years supervisory experience in Valve Automation and/or instrumentation background, preferably in the Valves & Actuators field for Oil & Gas Market.
- Conversant with ISO 12490 / API 6DX / IOGP S-707 / SHELL DEP standards or other industrial standards related to Valve Automation and/or instrumentation.
- Possess a strong knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic circuits.
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD 2D/3D or drafting software & SAP will be an added advantage.
- Familiar and possess intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365
- Very self-driven and able to drive the team. Possess strong interpersonal skills and can work as a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
