Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Fellow in the Department of Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Department of Medicine will be working with the National University Health System Transformation Office to develop innovative care models and related research. The objective is to improve health for patients and residents both within the health system and in the community. By testing and evaluating successful interventions, high impact research will be generated that will inform the longer term of scaling and sustaining solutions for the healthcare system and beyond. Appointments will be made on a one-year basis with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

The RF will work closely with the Principal Investigator to develop research based on the Transformation Office’s initiatives. In addition, the RF will work with the PI to train the team to undertake research studies.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The RF will be expected to:

  • lead the quantitative/qualitative research related to intervention evaluation
  • contribute towards research protocol development
  • manage the ethics application process
  • mentor and deliver training sessions to junior staff (research associates, research assistants)
  • supervise the collection of survey data
  • perform statistical analysis on collected data, extracting meaningful insights and drawing relevant conclusions
  • develop scientific papers and the dissemination of the study findings
  • collaborate with researchers at the Department of Medicine

Qualifications

The applicant should:

  1. hold a PhD in public health or health services research or appropriate social science discipline
  2. be able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative nature, attention to detail
  3. have knowledge of computer applications
  4. be fluent in written and spoken English
  5. good scientific writing skills as demonstrated by track records of publications in international peer-reviewed journals
  6. be organized and able to prioritize workload
