Position : Temp Staff – RPL , BECO
Contract duration : 11 Nov 24 – 11 Feb 25 with option to renew up to total contract duration of 12 months
• Temporary staff who worked for 3 months or more are entitled to staff benefits.
Candidates will be working in a hybrid arrangement (mix of work from home and office).
The duration of the contract is 3 months, subject to renewal of 6 to 12 months. The notice period will be 1-month.
Working hours : Mon – Thurs : 8.30am to 6pm, Fri : 8.30am to 5.30am with one hour lunch break
Hourly rated :
$18.50 per hour – Degree with no work experience.
Job Duties:
The Bioethics Advisory Committee (BAC) was established in 2000 to examine the ethical, legal and social issues arising from human biomedical research in Singapore. The Biomedical Ethics Coordinating Office (BECO) manages the day-to-day operations of the BAC, and provides policy, secretariat and administrative support for the following:
• Assist in the drafting and editing of BAC’s advisory reports/guidelines
• Plan and assist in BAC’s public education, coordinate and organise public consultation events
• Plan and assist in BAC’s Asian Bioethics Network Bioethics Conference 2025
• Prepare topical background papers for BAC’s consideration
• Plan for meetings and prepare meeting materials
• Conduct horizon scanning and prepare regular information updates for BAC
• Liaise with other parties (i.e. internal and external stakeholders and international ethics counterparts) on behalf of the BAC
• Manage BAC’s website, social media accounts and other publicity channels
• Coordinate referral requests and arrange and prepare for meeting materials to support the National Medical Ethics Committee
• Assist in coordinating and supporting the administrative work of the Clinical Ethics Network and Research Ethics Support (CENTRES), Centre for Biomedical Ethics (CBmE), National University of Singapore, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Bioethics Programme and trip submissions/reports
• Other duties as required (monitor email inbox and address public feedback/queries)
Requirements
• Degree holder (Preferably in life sciences/biomedical science/biology)
• Interest in bioethics is preferred
• Strong writing skills
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Meticulous and able to work within stipulated deadlines
