What is the Job all about?
Development and improvement of manufacturing processes in a water pump manufacturing plant. This is to be carried out by understanding both the product and manufacturing methods, in order to effectively apply this knowledge to the Shopfloor.
This role will be directly reporting to the Regional Head for Operations , and to be based in Singapore.
Your main responsibilities:
- Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment while also conferring with equipment vendors.
- Evaluates manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials and effectively understanding observations from operators.
- Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities, establishing standards and confirming manufacturing processes.
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintains processes data base by keeping SAP registries up to date.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Be the reference point for engineering change management in the plant, implementing the requirements and policy making of such changing, evaluating their impact in cost and delivery before proceeding.
- Be a reference point for other ME engineers in the plant, coaching them wherever is required.
Your background:
- Degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or equivalent.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts in order to implement them in the Shopfloor.
- 6-8 years of relevant experience is required for this role.
- Ability to find the best to nonlinear problems with multiple alternatives.
- Electrical knowledge (PLCs) would be preferred,
- Strong engineering foundations to assess and propose feasible solutions to problems.
- Good communication abilities to be able to understand requirements and negotiate solutions with stakeholders.
- Possess good initiative and able to work effectively to find solutions to the problems on your own.
- Capable of questioning the status quo to think of better ways to carry out the daily activities and processes.
